Europa. 
1' ranzen: gegen Osten der Fsuß Tanais, 
V_y der PaluS Mäotis, der Pontus Eu¬ 
xinus, Hellespont und das agaische Meer. 
Gegen Westen der Oceanus Atlanticus, gegen 
Norden der Oceanus Hyperboraus, gegen Sü¬ 
den das Mare mediterraneum. 
2. Meere: 
0 (Oceanus atlanticus, occidentalis, 
Hesperius oder Mare exterius, das heuti¬ 
ge atlantische Meer, von dem prom. Arta- 
bro (Capo finis terra) bis unter Jreland. 
2) (Oceanus septentrionalis, borealis, 
arccous, mare glaciale/ pigrum rc. das 
Nordmeer. Die Alten vermengten es häufig 
mit dem baltischen und caspischen Meere. 
3) Mare mediterraneum oder interius, 
auch Lybicum, das mittelländische Meer, 
welches bey Italien unter Ligurien den Namen 
Ligusticum; ostwärts Adriaticum, west¬ 
wärts Tyrrhenum und Srculum, tmter 
Griechenland Ionicum, an Asten Aegeum, 
Carpathium heißt. 
4) Mare Germanicum, das baltische
