Là der: 
Italia, Gracia mit dem Peloponnèsus und 
Epirus; Hispania, Gàllia, Germania, Rcha- 
tia, Vindelicia, 'Noricum, Jllyricum, Pan- 
nönia, Mösia, Thracia, Macedonia, Dacia, 
Sarmatia und Scythia Europaa. 
4. Inseln: 
1) im nördlichen Ocean: Britannia, Hi- 
chernia, Thule, Scandinavia. 
2) im mittelländischen Meere: Corsica, 
Sardinia, Sicilia, BaleareS, Creta, Cuböa, 
andere kleinere an den Küsten und inr Archi- 
pelagus. 
Italia. 
1. Namen: 
Italia, Saturnia, Ausonia, Hesperia, 
Oenokria; letztere Namen geben ihm die alte¬ 
ren Griechen. Der Ursprung des Namens 
Italia ist ungewiß ; am wahrscheinlichsten ist, 
daß er , wie die Namen Saturnia und (Deno- 
trui/ von alten Beherrschern deö Landes ent¬ 
stund. Der Name Ausonia kommt mehr bey 
den Dichtern vor, die einen Theil für das Gan¬ 
ze nannten. Hefperra hieß Italien bey den 
Griechen von seiner Lage gegen Abend. Die
