INDIA. 
Innıa, excluding Further India, falls into the following natural regions : (1) he 
northern ranges ; (2) the northern plains ; (3) the southern tableland : (4) the east 
coast plain. 
Politically it is divided into (1) certain British Provinces under the direct control 
of the British Crown, which is represented in India by @ Governor-General, or 
Viceroy. The chief provinces are Bengal, Eastern Bengal, Assam, Bombay, 
Madras, the United Provinces, the Punjab, the North-West Frontier Province, 
the Central Province, British Baluchistan, and Assam. Burma in Further India 
is another province of this type. (2) Certain Native States governed by Native 
Princes, who. however, haveno power to make war with foreign or Indian States.
